General

Check off this 8 day Tanzania northern circuit luxury safari from your bucket list this year.

Finally, you will have a chance to visit the world-renowned Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park.

These destinations may sound overwhelming, and you may wonder why you have to visit three different parks.

You will be glad to know that every one of these parks is iconic and has something different to offer the curious cat and open-minded traveller.

Here’s a rundown of what to expect during your Tanzania northern circuit luxury safari.

Serengeti National Park

Home to wall to wall wildlife, countless bird species and reptiles (especially cobras), the Serengeti makes for an enthralling safari destination.

Moreover, it sets the stage for the annual Mara Migration where millions of wildebeests and droves of zebras cross over the Grumeti to Masai Mara Game Reserve in search of pasture.

If you have a penchant for drama, this spectacle will surely be the highlight of your Tanzania northern circuit luxury safari.

Nile crocodiles lie in wait on the rivers and pounce on the wildebeests as they try to cross over to the other side.

In spite of the perils that this exodus presents, these wildebeests and zebras are not deterred from reaching their destination.

These and other inspiring life lessons will punctuate your safari in the Serengeti.

Your guide will take you to the Kopjes Circuit – granite outcrops which provide shade and watering pools for animals in dry seasons.

Tarangire National Park

This park is named after the Tarangire River which forms a primary source of fresh water for wildlife.

It is the ideal safari destination for elephant lovers as the number of these giant beasts is approximated at 3,000.

Elephants, zebras, wildebeests and birds flock to Tarangire during the dry months to quench their thirst and feed on the lush pasture.

Guests may enjoy night game drives, camping under the stars and walking safaris to surrounding areas like Empakai, Lake Eyasi, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru.

Lake Manyara National Park

This soda ash lake forms a fitting home for flamingos and other wading birds as well as elephants, baboons and tree climbing lions which can often be seen lounging on the acacia trees.

Lake Manyara is a small park and a half day trip is usually enough to explore all that it has to offer.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

For an extensive Big Five experience, most travellers will include Ngorongoro Conservation Area in their itinerary.

Located on the crater floor of an extinct volcano, Ngorongoro provides rich grazing grounds for a high density of big game.

Expect to see wild cats, cheetahs, jackals, gazelles, bat-eared foxes, serval cats and a host of about 400 bird species.

Guests enjoy hiking picnic lunches and mountain biking in addition to game drives while they are at this crater.

It is also home to the Maasai and Hadazbe people.
