Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Mount Kenya National Park

Main attraction: Sparkling trout streams and wild game

You will be picked up in an overland truck and head to Serena Mountain Lodge.  After lunch, you will engage in some game viewing from the open-air viewing deck. The salt-lick attracts numerous herds of elephant and buffalo and you can take photos at the photo hide which is just meters away from the wildlife. You will then have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Mount Kenya – Samburu National Reserve

Main attraction: Reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx and Big Five

Have some breakfast and travel to Kenya’s northern frontier – Samburu National Reserve. Samburu’s arid savannahs are watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River and house species only that are only found north of the equator. You will check in at Samburu Sopa Lodge and enjoy a late afternoon game drive. You will have and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve

Start your day with breakfast and go for your early morning game drive, pursuing elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. You will spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge where you will also have lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Samburu National Reserve – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Main attraction: Black rhino, the last male white rhino, chimpanzees & close encounters with wild game

After breakfast, you will travel overland to Ol Pejeta Conservancy where you will check into your tented camp and have some lunch. ; have lunch.

Your afternoon game drive will be done at the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a haven for orphaned chimps that was established by the Jane Goodall Institute. Ol Pejeta has the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya and it offers a great game viewing experience, camel tracking, lion tracking and al fresco dining. You will have dinner and overnight stay at the Sweet Waters Serena Camp.

 

Day 5: Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Lake Nakuru

Main attraction: Teeming flocks of flamingoes, 400 bird species, and the rare Rothschild Giraffe

After breakfast, you will depart Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley.  You will then enjoy an exciting game drive at after lunch. There is plenty of bird species – over 400 and lots of lesser and greater flamingos. You will have dinner and overnight stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara National Reserve

Main attraction: The great wildebeest migration, Big Five

You will wake up to a delicious breakfast and leave for the Masai Mara National Reserve. This reserve is home to the Big 5 and delivers the spectacular Masai Mara Migration. You will enjoy lunch at the lodge and an afternoon game drive thereafter. You will see a lot of large mammals: Masai giraffe, buffalo, eland, impala, zebra, and gazelles. You will have dinner and overnight stay at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

 

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will go on an extensive game drive where you will see predators and their cubs too. Herds of grazing herbivores may be found on the plains as well as cheetahs lying in wait. You will have an opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people where you will watch their singing and dancing and interact with their culture. You will have dinner and overnight stay at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 8: Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi

Wake up to an early morning game drive then have breakfast at the lodge. You will then depart for Nairobi where you will be transferred to your hotel, international airport or agreed destination.
