General

Ever been to Kenya’s lion filled Scotland? This 5 day Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara and Aberdares road safari gives you that opportunity.

Aberdares National Park has the moniker ‘Scotland with lions’ due to its subtropical to polar climate that is synonymous with Europe.

Its high moorland, peaks, dense rainforests, V-shaped valleys, bamboo, and waterfalls contrast heavily with the vast savannah of Masai Mara and the flamingo lined Lake Nakuru.

As you can imagine, it gets really chilly at night, so plan your Aberdares road safari with warm clothing in mind. Keep the lighter items of clothing for when you get to the Mara.

This 5 day Aberdares road safari will allow you to watch the largest herd of endangered black rhinos, the Big Five at Masai Mara and countless birds on Lake Nakuru.

Expect to see the escarpment, mountain ranges, rolling hills and wild animals from the moment you start your Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara and Aberdares road safari to the very end.

You will spend your Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Aberdares road safari at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge, Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge and the Ark Lodge.

The Ark Lodge

You will get a chance to reenact Noah and the ark as you stay at this tree lodge.

It is indeed shaped like a mammoth ark and the only distinguishing factor is that the animals don’t get to come in.

Animals congregate around the ark alright, but only because there is a floodlit watering hole and salt lick, which guarantees uninterrupted views of wild animals.

So that you don’t miss out, the night guard will buzz your cabin when elephants, buffalo, and other animals visit the watering hole day or night.

Alternatively, you can view wild animals from the three viewing decks available.

Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge

Set on a hill, this lodge delivers spectacular views of Lake Nakuru and the Lake Nakuru National Park.

Its rooms are spacious and exquisite and you are bound to wake up to beautiful sunrises over the lake (which you can see thanks to the full-length windows)

You can then spend the rest of your Lake Nakuru Aberdare safari relaxing at the outdoor pool, going on a nature walk or visiting the park only a few minutes away from the lodge.

Masai Mara Sopa Lodge

This will be your accommodation on the last destination of your 5 day Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara and Aberdares road safari.

Rooms on this lodge have sunken baths, electronic safe and sheltered verandahs with light safari chairs.

Animals at the Masai Mara Game Reserve are plenty so your game watching will be something to remember.

You can swap stories of your safari as you down your cocktails with other travelers at the Ol Murrani Bar.
