If you would like to combine different game parks without spending too much time during your trip, consider this 5 day Mara Samburu flying safari.

You get to visit 2 of Kenya’s most beautiful parks, the savage wilderness that is Samburu and the 8th Wonder of the World – Masai Mara.

This Mara Samburu flying safari will ensure that you gain an aerial overview of spectacular Kenyan landscapes: rivers, hills, vast plains, mountains and valleys.

A road trip from Nairobi to Samburu usually takes 5 hours but flying will cut down the time to a measly 45 minutes. That frees up your precious time to do other fun activities once you get to your destination.

Samburu Game Reserve

Located in the north, Samburu is unlike Mount Kenya, Aberdares, Diani, Nakuru, Naivasha and other scenic areas found in Kenya.

It has a desert landscape that is shrouded in yellow-brown savannah grass and spotted with thorn bushes, doum palms, and acacia trees.

Rivers here are brown and invite elephant herds to swim and frolic.

Masai Mara Game Reserve

Masai Mara is home to the world’s highest concentration of savannah animals of various species from antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, and elephants to high populations of big cats.

It also sets the stage for the annual Mara migration where thousands of wildebeests and zebras cross over to the Masai Mara Game Reserve from the Serengeti and vice versa.

You will spend 2 nights of your Mara Samburu flying safari at Ashnil Samburu Camp and the other 2 at Ashnil Mara Camp. Both are situated along major rivers where all the wildlife action takes place.

Ashnil Mara Camp

Every luxury tent has ensuite facilities, a luggage rack, seating and dressing areas and a wooden deck that facilitates game viewing.

Since the camp is situated on the Mara River, you are sure to wake up to birdsong and sunbathing hippo calls in the morning. This spot also gives you a front row seat to the unfolding drama of the wildebeest migration. Expect to see ruthless crocodile kills at any time of this extravaganza.

Spend the day going for nature walks, game drives, in-house cultural activities and crown your meal times with bush dining.

Relax with a drink at the open-air bar and end your day at the evening campfire.

Ashnil Samburu Camp

30 luxury tents providing views of Ewaso Nyiro river feature a dressing area, luggage rack, seating area and en-suite facilities.

There is also an open sitting restaurant overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro river where you can indulge in international, African and Oriental buffets and a swimming pool for those lazy afternoons.

Go out on a game drive, attend a wildlife conservation lecture, take a nature walk or wait to see the elephants stroll around the perimeter fence.
