Dubai Tour

Things to do - general

A Dubai tour is the adventure of a lifetime. This city is unlike any other in the world, and it’s characterized by manmade islands and head spinning skyscrapers.

Dubai forms the United Arab Emirates together with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

Every day spent in Dubai gives you an opportunity to experience a bit of the old and a bit of the new.

You can choose to haggle over prices at the gold and spice souks or go for a modern shopping experience at Dubai Mall.

You may spend some time taking in the sunshine at Jumeirah Beach one day and find yourself at the ice cold Ski Dubai on the next.

There is plenty to do for every type of traveler from water sports to desert activities, belly dance shows, shopping, and sightseeing.

Most travelers have Burj Khalifa on their bucket list; a building so tall that it gives you spirit lifting views stretching all the way into the Persian Gulf.

A Dubai tour is made even more exciting when travelers see the musical fountain at the Dubai Mall whose water rises up to 150m. Not to be missed is the ship sail-shaped Burj al Arab, the only hotel in the world that enjoys a 7-star rating.

Dubai was only a fishing village until oil was discovered in the mid-20th century which led to economic growth, high-quality infrastructure, and an expatriate friendly atmosphere.

Today, Dubai is a tourism and business hub in a region that covers Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Best time to schedule a Dubai tour

The best time to visit Dubai is from December to April when the Arabian Desert temperatures are lower than usual with blowing winds at nighttime.

There are also short periods of rainfall during this time and tourist traffic is at its peak, so make travel arrangements as early as possible.

June and October are hottest and are not recommended for outdoor activities like the desert safari and camel riding during the daytime.

You may indulge in more indoor activities because all public buildings in Dubai are air conditioned. All you need to do is slather on lots of sunscreen and stay hydrated to prevent a heat stroke.

Slotting your Dubai tour during the months of Ramadan will be quite limiting because the strict rules of Islam do not allow smoking, eating, drinking and staying outdoors for long hours.

To counter this, hotel rates drop significantly during these holy months.

How to get to Dubai

  • By air: This city is served by the state-of-the-art Dubai International Airport which is 5km away from the city. It serves 90 airlines flying to hundreds of destinations across six continents. You may book affordable flights to Dubai on Vacay Holiday Deals.
  • By road: A public bus will cost you about $2 and take an hour to arrive in the city.  A taxi will take 15 minutes and cost you $7 flat fee and an additional $1 for every subsequent kilometer. All taxis at the airport are registered under Dubai Taxi Corporation which is operated by the government. Addresses in Dubai do not include numerals so specify your destination using your hotel, roads or landmarks.
  • By Dubai Metro: Take a Red Line Metro if you’re heading to downtown Dubai and the Green Line if you’re going to a destination near to the Dubai Creek. Only 2 pieces of luggage are allowed at the metro and you will spend about $2 for this half hour trip.
  • By sea: You can visit Dubai using a private boat or as part of a cruise during your Dubai tour. This requires travelers with more time to kill and a flexible itinerary. Cruise ships from USA, Europe, Africa, India, Middle East, Australia all berth at Dubai’s cruise terminal.
