Travel to Kenya’s most renowned wildlife spots with a 5 day Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara and Ol Pejeta road safari.

This road trip will take you from Nairobi to the north of the equator in Nanyuki then to the flamingo fringed Lake Nakuru via the Great Rift Valley and lastly to the world famous Masai Mara.

Along the way, you will see hills and valleys, rock outcrops, acacia trees, woodlands, swamps and riverine forest.

Ol Pejeta

Located between the Aberdares and Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta hosts 3 of the planet’s last remaining northern white rhinos – Sudan, Najin and Fatu.

It’s also home to southern white rhinos, black rhinos, scavengers and the only place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees.

There is an equator marker within the conservation area where you can take photos and you may engage in additional activities such as lion tracking, bush and bird walks and rhino rides.

Lake Nakuru

This is the greatest world ornithological spectacle at least according to birding enthusiasts and is located on the Great Rift Valley floor.

Over 1 million lesser and greater flamingos, herons, storks, pelicans, and other wading birds can be viewed up close at this lake.

The Lake Nakuru National Park is home to 450 bird species and 56 types of mammals. Anything from pythons, scavengers and grazers to hunters and reptiles can be found on this park.

Masai Mara

The Masai Mara Game Reserve sets the stage for the annual wildebeest migration and provides a home to the Big 5.

The Nile crocodile can be seen basking on the Mara rRver waiting for wildebeests and zebras to make the crossing from Serengeti Game Reserve.

Though chilling, a crocodile kill is a dramatic spectacle for safari goers.

Lake Nakuru, Mara & Ol Pejeta road safari itinerary

Arrival

• You’ll be collected from the airport (or hotel).
• Accommodation before the tour departs can be arranged for an extra cost.

Day 1: Nairobi – Nanyuki

Leave Nairobi and head north to Ol Pejeta Conservancy through the tea and coffee estates.

Visit the charming Chimpanzee Sanctuary established by the Jane Goodall Institute.

This acts as a haven for orphaned chimps and has salt licks and private waterhole where other animals come to drink. You are assured of close encounters and an excellent game viewing experience.

Ol Pejeta has the highest ratio of game to area of any reserve in Kenya.

Enjoy al fresco dining during dinner at Sweetwaters Serena Camp and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Nanyuki – Lake Nakuru

Have breakfast and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving at your lodge in time for lunch.

Go out for an afternoon game drive where you will see flamingos and over 450 bird species, Rothschild’s giraffes, black and white rhinos, waterbucks, reedbucks, lions, buffalos, leopards, baboons and many other species of plains game.

You will head back to Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for dinner and a sleepover.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara

Take your breakfast and depart overland to Masai Mara Game Reserve, an enormous part of the Mara Serengeti ecosystem.

Here, you will view the Big Five, birds and reptiles. Head back to the lodge for lunch and go back out into the reserve for an afternoon game drive.

You will have dinner and overnight at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 4: Masai Mara

The fourth day of your Lake Nakuru, Mara and Ol Pejeta road safari will kick off with breakfast and a full day game drive in one of the greatest wildernesses of the world.

Residents among the park’s mammals are; Masai giraffe, buffalo, impala, zebra, topi, and Thompson’s and Grant’s gazelles.

Optional hot air balloon rides are available on this day at an additional cost. On this final day in the Mara, you may also have an opportunity to visit an authentic Maasai village at an additional cost.

All meals and overnight will be at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Kickstart your day with an early morning game drive followed by breakfast at your lodge.

Leave for Nairobi where upon arrival you will be transferred to the airport, hotel or agreed destination, ending your memorable safari with us.
