Engage in thrilling game viewing with a Maasai Mara road safari with Vacay Holiday Deals.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve is a haven for serious safari seekers because it combines riveting game viewing, Maasai culture and scenic landscapes in one tour.

It has rolling hills, riverine forests and a flat-topped escarpment to the west and shares a boundary with Serengeti to the south.

The Maasai have an abiding respect for wildlife and you will find them coexisting with over 400 bird species, the Big Five and millions of wildebeest who cross the Mara river annually.

You can choose to stay at the Mara Sopa Lodge or have a tent experience at the Simba Oryx Camp or Ol Moran Tented Camp. Whatever accommodation you choose will provide meals on full board and an unforgettable bush experience.

Before you leave, visit a Maasai village and soak up their culture and traditions to crown your Maasai Mara road safari.

Mara Sopa Lodge

Located high on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Masai Mara Sopa Lodge has stood the test of time. It was one of the first safari lodges to be built in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

All its buildings have traditional conical roofs featuring cottage houses with 2 rooms each, which is great for travelers on a budget.

Each room has an electronic safe, dresser, and light safari chairs on the patio. Honeymooners can take the Honeymoon Suite which features a sunken bath and sheltered verandah.

Meals offered are buffet style although some dishes can be cooked to your taste on certain days of the week.

In between your game drives, enjoy an afternoon of ease beside the pool as you sip a drink from Ol Murrani Bar or watch the plains from your room patio.

Simba Oryx Camp

The Simba Oryx Camp delivers wild luxury and you can actually view the animals from your bed through the glass front.

This intimate tented camp is in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration as it’s only 4 km from the Mara River.

Game viewing does not stop when you are here because the sights of wild animals at the pool below, scents of the savannah and sounds of nature engulf you as you dine, sleep and relax.

In the evening, watch the sunset from your private terrace or swap your safari stories over dinner with other guests.

Ol Moran Tented Camp

If you want a truly wild experience, this exclusive tented camp will do the trick.

It rests on the banks of Ololaimutia River, a watering point for elephants, buffalos, antelopes and other animals.

All the tents are mosquito repellant and self-contained with ensuite bathrooms, a modern hot and cold shower and a flush toilet.

Meals are buffet and a la carte enjoyed either in the dining room or under the shade of indigenous trees.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara

You will be picked up by our driver and head to Masai Mara National Reserve. The driver will stop at major viewpoints to allow you to take in the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley.

By the time you get to your lodge or camp, lunch will be ready for you after which you will go for an afternoon game drive until sunset.

Day 2: Maasai Mara

You will spend the day in the Maasai Mara where you will see the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant.

Because game drives are flexible, you could opt to go for early morning and afternoon drives or take your picnic lunch box with you for uninterrupted game viewing.

Afternoon game drives are more interesting because that is when predators begin their nightly search for prey.

There is also an option of visiting a local Maasai village (USD 30 per person).

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Nairobi

An early morning game drive will be followed by breakfast at the lodge or camp at 8:30 a.m.

Check out and departure to Nairobi will ensue after breakfast.

Your Maasai Mara road safari will come to a close when you are dropped off at your agreed location after arriving at Nairobi.
